Media Moment

Proposed Point (and click)

REMINDER:

Daylight Savings Time starts tomorrow night (Sunday Morning) at 2:00 a.m.   It is "Spring Forward", which means it will go from 1:59 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. with a single click of the clock.   Remember to set your clocks forward.

Also, I would be remiss if I didn't also share that your local fire department also reminds you to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

PETA beware:
There was this "not too bright" scientist doing a study on how frogs respond to commands.

He tells a frog to jump. The frog jumps 30 feet. He writes in his log book, frog jumps 30 feet.

Then he cuts off one leg. He gives the same command to frog. It jumps 25 feet. In Log: Cut off one leg, frog jumps 5 less feet.

He cuts off another leg. Frog goes 20 feet. He records it in log book.

Then he cuts off the 3rd leg, commands frog to jump. Frog jumps 10 feet. He writes, cut off 3 legs and frog now jumps 10 less feet.

Finally, he cuts off the last leg and commands frog, JUMP! The Frog doesn't move an inch.

So the scientist writes in his book... Cut off all 4 legs and frog GOES DEAF!

"It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels."
- Saint Augustine

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.   Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.  -- Proverbs 16:18-19 (NKJV)

Most often quoted as (or rather misquoted) from the KJV as "Pride goeth before a [or the] fall."   This is a one of the few passages that even the most secular of people will spout from time-to-time.   In fairness "they" probably credit it to Shakespeare or Ben Franklin.

I don't think that I am alone with my constant (sea-saw like) battle with Pride.   It is one of the most basic, and, by some accounts, the most common sin in our race.  Though to be honest, I question who and how such things could be measured.

Also, I should mention that Pride is listed first among the "7 Deadly Sins".

But when it comes to pride, the most damning passage of scripture I know is found in 1 Peter 5:5[b]:  "God opposes the proud..."   I'm pretty sure that if God opposes it, it is bad, and will not prevail...nor will those who practice such things.   But to get a better feel for this passage and the intent of the writer, check out the Amplified Version.

Just to get you to think, even for a moment, about Pride....

I realized that stamps may seem like a odd choice for the media moment; but, somehow it works in my warped little mind.     As much as I hate the Post Office---even with my frequent use of the Automated Postal Center--this was a "no brainer' when I found it.

Even though I've not done it yet, I can even print personalized stamps with a photo/image of my choice.   Of course, your choice needs to be within the boundaries common decency.

Check out this site/product.   I think you too will see if as a wonderful option for you.   You may even see it as a "media" option in the future.

While it may not ever be someplace I visit, this website I happened upon makes
me want to try.   Especially knowing a few folks from that part of the world.
