Happy Valentine's Day...a day late

I don't know if it is because I am a man, or some other (less sexist) reason, but Valentine's Day has always seemed a bit suspicious to me.   Of course it doesn't help that popular history contents that it was started by a Catholic Priest.

Oh, not to worry, I made sure that the special folks in my life got their valentine's day cards, notes, gifts, etc., but it was done in (not so) silent protest.

Even with that, I felt the obligation (I chose that word specifically) to dedicate this issue to the "Love Holiday".   Though a day late, the information might still be helpful.

If You Love Somebody

I always thought the original saying was, "If you love something, set it free. If it doesn't come back to you, it wasn't yours to begin with."

However, for the purposes of this test, let's use the proposed version. In which category do *you* fall?

"The Old Version"
If you love somebody, Set her free...
If she comes back, she's yours,
If she doesn't, she never was....

"The New Versions"

If you love somebody, Set her free ...
If she ever comes back, she's yours,
If she doesn't, well, as expected, she never was.

More Valentine's / Love Humor Here !

"The great question, which I have not been able to answer is,
"What does a woman want?"
~ Sigmund Freud

"I don't understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine's Day.
When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short,
chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon."
~Author Unknown

Young man, do not resent it when God chastens you and corrects you, for his punishment is proof of his love.

It seems I've encountered a few people in my life who has taken on the role of God, in that they felt punishing me was a way to show their love.   I think it works best with God.

Continuing my tribute to the just past Valentine's Day, I searched out the "Top 10" greatest Love Stories and listed them here so you could add them to your collection.    I used the American Film Institutes list of the 100 greatest love stories...or at least the first 10% of it, plus one.

So, according to AFI, the #1 Greatest Love story is....

The 1942 classic starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman...well, "Frankly my dear, I don't give a ..."

As promised, the rest of the "Top 10" are:

#2 --Gone with the Wind
#3 --West Side Story
#4 --Roman Holiday
#5 -- An Affair To Remember
#6 --The Way We Were
#7 --Doctor Zhivago
#8 --It's a Wonderful Life (I have no idea how that made the top 10)
#9 -- the aptly named Love Story
#10 --City Lights (You just can't go wrong with Charlie Chapman)

But, I also promised you "plus one".   There are many that I think are better than those that made the top 10, but one that certainly should have, as a clasic for all ages Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown.

There you go, the Media Moments view of this love sick holiday.

Because I just believe that it is 'better late than never', I just can't give up on the Valentine's Day theme.

I found a website that has compiled numerous sites around the great big World Wide Web and put them in one spot.   That site, is this week's Proposed Point (& Click).

The site --  Rexanne's Valentine -- has a motto I felt worth pointing out as it is so small you might miss it.   The motto is:  "Spreading A Little Love on the Toast of Life".   That alone is worth the price of admission.   I have certainly spent my fair share of time spreading something on life, but nothing like that.

In any event, you may want to bookmark this site so you have it in plenty of time for next Valentine's Day.   However, it should also be noted that while this site is dedicated to February 14, much of the information on it can be used anytime you need help with 'jazzing up' the "I Love You" in your life--Birthday, Anniversary, "I screwed up", etc.   The best tip of all is doing something to show your love on an average (non-holiday) day.

Enjoy...
