Rampant Ego
"It Seems my [ego] knows no bounds" -- Adapted: Doc Holiday in Tombstone

From the Dust Cover:

"Witty words give life to a sharp view of the world. This is a book that can make you think, laugh, and remember—a delicate and entertaining mix of political commentary, humorous remarks, and social observation. Just when you think the chapter is too intense, it gives the comic relief needed.

Though a first book, ‘Ravings’ shows McGown is no stranger to writing. It captures the heart and mind of many who previously had no voice in the world.

‘Ravings Of A Sane Man’ can be consumed in one setting; then slowly enjoyed again and again savoring its many complex layers of flavor."  -Bon Appétit

I have taught classes on goal setting, I have set countless goals for myself...from very short term (take one more step) to very long term (spoil my great-grand children).   From very simple (return so-and-so's call) to very difficult (loose 60 pounds).

I believe that there are only three truly important steps to goal setting--They have to be: achievable, measurable, and written.

While I certainly have a number of "Life Goals," and they are written down, they are not in one place and I have (until now) kept them mostly private.  However, I have decided to move into the 21st Century, at the same time as I provide a basis for accountability (and encouragement).

I have posted my goals on Caroline Miller's alternate website: www.Your100Things.com

I'm not a huge fan of the great outdoors.   Well, really its the sun I'm not too fond of
--I enjoy being outside in the shade.

I was looking for something that would allow me to enjoy the outdoors, but not require too much time or sunshine.   While on a business trip, I was introduced to Geochaching
(dang you Shawn R.).   This is a 'sport' that I can do with my hectic travel schedule -- in fact my travel schedule actually lends itself to geocaching.   My goal is to "log" at least one (1) cache in all 50 States and all the US Territories.

You can learn more about the wonderful and entertaining world of Geocaching at: www.geocaching.com.

A Brief History of McGown:

Mcgown was first used as a surname among the ancient Scottish people known as the Picts.  It was a name for a metalworker.  The Gaelic form of the name is Mac Ghobhainn, which means son of the smith.  According to the Venerable Bede, the "Father of English History" who was born in 673, the Pictish race, one of the founding races of the British Isles, arrived in Scotland from Brittany about the 5th century B.C..  From France the Picts had sailed northward to Ireland.  The ancient Monarchies of Ireland refused them permissions to land, but they were allowed to settle in the eastern part of Scotland on condition that all their Kings marry an Irish Princess.  This established a matriarchal hierarchy, first in the annals of British history.  The family name McGown is believed to be descended from this source.
